101 Reasons to Study Ballet - Reason # 44 - Intellectual Stimulation

Reason #44 Intellectual Stimulation

The study of ballet can help stimulate your mind. We use abstract thinking in ballet class. We think about the style of the step, the meaning of the step, what muscles do we use to perform the step, how many sets of the step and what direction do we move the step. Learning to use abstract thinking is useful for both children and adults, it help people learn to problem solve and think in creative ways.  People who don’t challenge their minds exhibit a greater degree of memory loss compared with people who remain mentally active. Most experts think it’s not the years of formal education or the type of occupation  that benefits memory. A lifelong habit of learning and engaging in mentally challenging activities — like the study of classical ballet, reading, playing chess, performing music, or acquiring new skills — is thought to help keep the brain in shape. start the study of classical ballet today.
