Form is the visual appearance or shape of an object. It is also the proper way of performing an exercise or step.  In dance the visual appearance is all important. Ballet is a performing art presented to an audience. There is a standard by which all ballet dancer seek to achieve. Each step in ballet has "form". The first thing each ballet students learns is the five position of the feet and arms. It is the beginning of creating ballet form. First position  legs are rotated, from your hips to the tips of your toes, heels touching, to form an angle of 180 degrees. Every muscle, from the waist down, is contracted and held in place. Your buttocks are tight and held to create a straight posture. Your stomach is held tight - belly button press back to the spine.
